Audio cuts out when playing through Denafrips Ares ii DAC
« on: October 14, 2020, 01:41:21 am »

Hi all - trying JRiver for the first time. Digital files are stored on an Unraid NAS and played on a WIN10 PC with all updates. I'm having a problem with the audio cutting out for about 8 seconds when changing tracks in Media Center and outputting via USB to my Denafrips Ares ii DAC, whether using Wasapi or ASIO. It doesn't happen in Mediamonkey, nor does it happen using DirectSound through my receiver. I can see the waveform for the start of the next track, but there is no audio for the first 8 seconds. Any suggestions gratefully received ;-)

Cheers

If the receiver works, then the problem is probably the DAC.

Try WASAPI again, but reboot both sides (PC and DAC) after setting it.

MC has an option to play leading silence.  It's useful for DAC's that take time to respond.

It's possible that the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of MC might behave differently.

Thanks Jim - the problem has gone after a motherboard BIOS update and changing to a shorter USB cable in a USB 2.0 port. I don't know which change fixed it and I'm too lazy to find out ;-)
