Help needed with starting up with the JRiver Media Center 27
« on: October 19, 2020, 05:00:12 pm »

Hello all,
I have a huge problem with opening the JRiver Media Center 27 on my Mac version 10.7. I've already used the 19th version of the Media Center programme and my licence expired so I decided to buy a full license for the JRiver Media Center 27. I've bought it, installed, but it does not open at all. My Mac constantly says that the installed programme has unexpectedly stopped working. I cannot open it at all, although the 19th version was working properly. On the main page, from which I've downloaded the 27th version it says that to open the programme I need MacOS 64 bit and at least MacOS Mavericks 10.9.. I do have the MacOS 64 bit, but do not have the Mavericks. Does it mean that I need to install the Mavericks firstly, to be at least able to open the JRiver Media Center 27? Can someone please tell me how and from where can I install the Mavericks? Do I need to buy it separetedly? In fact I tried to install the Mavericks but also could not find it, so I need help with this issue too.
And if so, why? I do not understand why there was no problem with the 19th and why it did not need the Mavericks, while I am unable to open and use the 27th version without the Mevericks.
Can someone please tell me what to do step by step? I am totally new to such problems.
Also, is there a possibility to use my already bought license in the 19th version? And again, if so, how?
It would be perfect if I was able to use the JRiver Media Center without having to buy another programme, I mean the Mavericks.
Looking forward to your responses and, hopefully, the step by step guide.

You need to have "at least MacOS Mavericks 10.9"  Higher would be OK.

What model is the computer?  About how old?

Try Google and Apple for how to update your OS.

It is mac mini A1347. I do not remember how old it is.
Could you also answer the questions which are left in my oryginal post? I mean the ones about Mavericks and why did the 19th version work while the 27th doesnt.

Newer versions of Media Center have dependencies (e.g. Xcode, video, etc.) on things that are only in newer versions of macOS. The older version was released when the system requirements were different. The system requirement has risen a couple times over the years, which is to be expected in software development. The last build of Media Center 19 for Mac was released 6 years ago.

Mac OS X 10.9 is the minimum version of macOS required for Media Center 27. It won't run on older versions of macOS.

P.S. Licenses don't expire, you should still be able to use Media Center 19 on your older Mac OS X as long as you still have your Media Center 19 license. You can recover it from here if you don't remember it (and you still have your email address used for your Media Center 19 license): https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore_email.cgi?displayemail=1

I had an expired trial version so I decided to buy a license. I bought but to 27 version, so can it be replaced with a key to version 19?

No.  We don't provide older licenses.  If you purchased it earlier, you can retrieve your old license from our server by visiting the Restore Page.
