Installation problem
« on: January 21, 2019, 02:53:50 pm »

Good morning, I had my computer on the MC23 version.

I bought the MC version, received the .mjr file

I circled this file.

I unveiled the version of MC 23, to avoid having two versions on my computer.

I downloaded the installation file from the MC 24.

When I say install, the message that is unpacking the files appears.

After Windows asks if I allow the installation.

After I give OK, nothing happens. The MC 24 program does not install.

I downloaded the version of MC 23 and it also does not install.

What can I do?

Problems like this are usually due to antivirus or other security programs.

I already disabled the antivirus.
And the problem persists.
I even installed it on another computer, and I had the same problem.

I tested it by disabling Firewall, and it did not work.

The funny thing is that I have three computers at home. In two, I could not install the MC 24 downloaded on the site, with the same problem.

Is the site installed ok?

Sounds like antivirus is still in the background interfering with the installation. With some antivirus apps, even if you disable them they still function in the background.

What antivirus are you running?

The *only* other thing I can think of is you're trying to install the 64-bit version of MC24 on a Windows OS that's 32-bit. But I admit, this possibility of that is likely very low and I'm not sure if MC's installer will give the user an error if they're trying to do that.

I am trying to install the 32bit version.

My antivirus is Avast.

But later, I'll try to install it on the third computer I have at home, which has the same configuration.

Thank you for your help.

Uninstall Avast, just to test.

I uninstalled Avast and the MC 24 installation did not work.

Of the three computers I have in my house, in only one worked the facility.

A strange thing. When extracting compressed files begins, the installation stops at 36% for a while and then continues. I do not know if there's anything strange about it.

What operating systems do you have on your PCs? You should set windows security centre to give you firewall notifications to alert you to possible blocking actions. You should also have a good look at Awesome Donkey's post https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114101.msg788699.html#msg788699

In both Pcs with problems, in one I have Win 10 and the other Win 8.1.

In both the MC 23 worked perfectly.

My problem is in the installation, only.

On PC with Win 8.1, I uninstalled the MC 23 and tried to install the MC 24. It did not work.

The worst that I tried to reinstall the MC 23, and gave the same error of installation of the MC 24.

Thank you for your help.

Fellows,

The solution is very simple. You do not need to uninstall anything. Just restart the computer in secure mode, then execute the install file.

It worked very well for me.  ;D ;D

I came here to post exactly this solution. Since MC keeps updating constantly, every time it has a new update I have to install it in secure mode. By now, I have disabled automatic update and be waiting for a definite fix.

I don't think this is a JRiver problem.  It's the security software on your machine.
