Last.fm Scrobbling Poor Usability
Jamil:
This has been a long-time issue that has been driving me absolute bananas. As usual every week, MC27 is encountering issues scrobbling to last.fm. It happens every Friday. Starting around noon, every single song played from my play list opens Firefox where I am prompted to authorize JRiver scrobbling. This happens for every single track change over and over. I play my music nonstop, and I return to my computer to see an unusable amount of browser tabs open all caused by JRiver MediaCenter. If left alone, this behavior very well could crash my computer. This issue remains now on Saturday morning and continues.

Sometimes a picture helps illustrate how bad this is.
Awesome Donkey:
Last.fm keep having issues on their websites as of late, which causes this issue.
What you can try doing is completely remove your last.fm account from within MC (Delete the connection to this account), then close MC completely. Then go to last.fm's site by going specifically to https://www.last.fm/settings/applications and disconnect JRiver from the Connected Applications section. Them double check and make sure it's no longer there, then reopen MC and re-connect your last.fm account there.
Jamil:
Last.fm website having issues is understandable.
What is not is why the original MediaCenter coder assuming that a scrobble failure means the user is not authenticated. Don't force the last.fm authentication link to launch for each and every scrobble failure. Due to this design decision, every single user is plagued by this same issue (in all supported operating systems).
A better design is to instead display a brief status bar message at the far bottom that appears in the center: last.fm scrobble failed. Display this message for a few seconds then revert the status bar back to what it was displaying previously. This is a single solution that could have been implemented years ago.

Did you ever solve the issue? I have the same problem running MC27 on a Mac. Every song opens up a new tab in Firefox asking to authorise scrobbling. Once clicked authorise the Last.fm site says permission is granted but it doesn't show in the Last.fm applications page.
I scrobble with Qobuz and have no issues.
I'd like to keep scrobbling, if anyone has a solution it would be appreciated!
