IIRC, you updated libbluray in v27.

Since then, I have had very frequent freezes after a few playbacks of full bluray rips.  The number/combination of discs doesn't seem to have a pattern.

It just happened again after only one plyback.  While this has always been a problem after several playbacks since you added the capability, it appears more frequently now.  Not sure if the latest libbluray or perhaps something on my system.  Posting as curious if anyone else has this experience.  Certainly all of the discs where menus didn't work in the past still don't work (which is very few), but the freezes have increased.

Is there anything I can provide that may help?  I know this is likely a fringe benefit to those of us who make full rips and playback (often) that way.  It's an awesome feature.  Unfortunately I can't reproduce any pattern here.

Hi Frank - I've been testing this over the last two days as I've just got the full set of GOT in UHD (30 Odd disks) and so far I've not seen any hangs.  That said, all I've been doing is playing each rip (with Menus) and just watching a bit of the first EPS on each disk to make sure they work, then I stop, play the next disc etc.

...also might be worth while clearing the log, then doing a bunch of plays till it hangs then post the log?

Thanks - have some time this weekend to do some watching/testing.

Today MC hung when starting playback of a TV show from an MPLS file (particle).  Will see what additional data I can share.

BTW - my GoT just arrived - seems like a good thing to binge watch over the long cold dark winter here ;)

My GOT discs were a PITA to backup as out of the box they would not read well if at all.  I had to clean each of them at least once to get them to read.

Frank - I blame you.  Now I'm seeing issues with MPLS Particle Playback hanging MC.  Well, sort of Hanging, in that I can play the MPLS Particle, stop it and I get a Black Screen.  I can ESC out of it and get back to the MC GUI but then I can not play another video.  I double click on the next MPLS and nothing happens.  I need to close both MC and MC Server and restart before I can play the video.

I've got a log but I don't see anything obvious.

Another thing, issues with MPLS as well as Full Menu playback indicate the issue is not with libbluray as that library is only used with Menus.  To me it felt more like an issue of MC not being able to break down the filter graph after playback was stopped.

yes i am also noticing mpls playback issues on occasion.  did more testing as we watched a lot of movies a d tv shows this past week due to holiday.  we counted we had to restart media center 7 times total.

we mixed full rip playback and from particle (mpls).  i could usually get to task manager and kill the process when it hung.

we could not not find an obvious pattern

I'm still seeing the issue.  Anyone had time to look at the Log I Posted?

The log is not particularly helpful, but i'll try to reproduce such issues.

also curious if you notice a consistent av sync issue lately.  for every playback from mpls or bluray i need to introduce +80ms audio sync.   mkv seems unaffected.  this is across two different HTPCs

Could it be JRTools?  I saw this today after playing a video (it was then "hung") and I tried to update MC to the latest version.

what is JRtools?

i think i have the audio sync under control now.  had to set a global default - something i never had to do before.

i have also been trying full screen exclusive mode in madVR and after several videos have not had a crash.  not enough time yet to establish correlation

From what I understand, JRTools does a bunch of the background tasks.

I've also seen the issue with the change in Lip Sync in my main PC (not the HTPCs) but as I'm playing with various versions of madVR, and Video Drivers I've not delved into it too much.... also playing on this machine with a new RTX3090 as I did not have enough VRAM on my 1660Ti (6GB) for Davince Resolve to edit 4K footage (from the Sony FX6).... and you can't get a 3080 (10GB) for love or money here in Australia.  The RTX3090 (24GB) cost me a kidney however :( .... at least I'll not run out of VRAM.

Edit:  If you have not seen the Wiki Page of Lip Sync there are some video clips that makes it easy to dial it in - https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Lip_Sync

that 3090 is an amazing card!  i have one too.

i found the wiki for the lip sync and those video clips were perfect for calibration

in any case i expect to watch a lot of video the coming weeks due to holiday and therefore “time” :)   so far FSE seems stable for me which leads me down the rabbit hole of madvr and perhaps the latest nvidia drivers

Thought I would update that I have not had freezing issues for a few weeks now.  Possibly due to updating nVidia drivers and/or further Media Center updates, but what was once problematic seems to have gone away.

Really wish I could have gotten to the root cause of it.

I still find a lot of little issues - most can be worked around - with bluray menu support.  That’s not a JRiver problem however and I’m happy with the support that is there!  Hopefully libbluray continues development :)

It is still driving me nuts but I'm putting it down to testing the madVR HDR builds on my MainPC (or running Davinci Resolve at the same time.... or the new 3090.... or I have no idea).  Thankfully, my HTPC's are showing no such issues and are nice and stable.
