xml file
« on: December 19, 2020, 07:31:48 pm »

why does JRiver create an xml file for every media file every played? no other media player i have ever used as done this. it clutters up whatever folder media is playing from and for what? if other players actually do this this xml litter they must be automatically saved to a temp folder some where. how do i make it stop? please. i have been wondering this ever since 23 when i FIRST bought this program and questioning why i should by it again. the xml's are obnoxious and there is always some complication with audio.

It's an option. You have it turned on. The option exists because some files types (like videos, and WAV files) don't support proper tagging, and people think it's important to be able to store metadata outside the library so it's portable and persistent.

If you google "jriver disable sidecar files" you'll see that the very first result answers your questions, and it's asked by someone wanting to turn that feature on.

Good luck.
