Loading Weather in Theater View Causes Crash
« on: December 23, 2020, 03:16:08 pm »

Calling up "Weather" in Theater View (e.g., CTRL-4 / Gadgets / Weather), causes an almost immediate crash for me (MediaCenter 27.0.43 (64-bit)).  All the other Gadget  submenu options (Search, News, Playing Now, Explorer) seem to work normally.

I can't reproduce that.  Try today's build.  Try NOAA vs OpenWeatherMap.  Is it only one of them?

Thanks.

Thanks - I updated to 27.0.47 (64-bit), same issue.  I can't try NOAA v OpenWeatherMap  - the program crashes while it is loading the weather station menu. I've taken the liberty of sending you a crash log by PM.

Did you configure Windows Defender according to the thread here?

Too long ago to remember.  I had a similar problem with this particular menu option (never any others) in a previous version of MC (can't remember if it was 25 or 26) - IIRC it was something related to MC having to update the source of the info from for non-US sites and was fixed in an update.

Sorry -  I couldn't figure out how to send the crash log by PM  through the interact forum messaging and don't want to post it here publicly.

I can confirm the crash with OpenWeatherMap. I was able to fix it by deleting location and configuring it again from tools -> options -> TheaterView.

The location was only number when it was crashing. After re-creating location the value is now City and number inside parenthesis. So probably some parsing check bug causes crash now when the value format is changed from number to mixed data.
