DVD play issue
« on: December 26, 2020, 02:06:48 pm »

Hello, since years I have issues playing DVD's rips in MC. Recently (first time with MC 27), I wanted to play some of my rips, and again, half of them crash at launch. I have tried all the popular codecs packs, played with Red October settings, from network or locally with no success. Most popular players play them well. Any idea?

I have tried... I wonder if the issue is not here when starting to play (client-server config):

Not working:

I think I have an idea... my library is on a deduplicated storage (Windows). If I move the folder to a standard storage, it works. The issue happens only for some DVDs and in MC...

I have solved DVDs rips read issue on deduplicated drive by creating hard links to a non-deduplicated drive (to keep my folders structure). But, I have another issue that I have already noticed before that. The DVD suddenly stops to play. From what I understand:

Normal playing:

This is the address of my Android tablet but, MC is controlled only by the Windows MC client-server in this case (BubbleUPnp when controlling from Android).

Any idea?

In DVD folder structure, a movie can be made up of several VOB files (IFO file in nutshell is just telling which VOB files make up the movie).

It is possible for movie that are contain within single VOB files there is no issue. But for movies made up of multiple VOB files, UPNP is only able to serve first VOB file.

In any case, check that "troubled" movie plays fine on local computer first.
