MC 27 & Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 at 192kHz
« on: December 27, 2020, 03:44:55 pm »

Hi, anybody using MC27 for MAC and Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 for multi channel output?
I just bought it and cannot get it to produce sound when operating at 192 kHz.
MC27 is configured to oversample or downsample all streams to 192 kHz, Scarlett is set to 192 kHz, but I get no communication.
The level indicator on the Scarlett Focusrite Control App show no signal.
If I configure to 96 kHz everything is OK.
I intend to use the system in place of a MiniDSP for a 4 way stereo system.
So I need the 8 channels to be subject to crossover and room correction within MC27.
The reason to change from MiniDSP is to have all the processing at 192 kHz instead of 96 kHz.
Appreciate suggestions.

How are you connecting your computer to the 18i20?  According to the manual, at higher sample rates (like 192 KHz) the optical inputs and outputs are disabled, for example.  Have you confirmed that the device supports 192 with the connections you're using?

Hi mwillems, I'm connecting via USB, which should be OK according to the manual.

I eventually came up with the solution.
Scarlett 18i20 does not support the 192kHz using the full mixer features.
But if you just do the matrix connection of input from DAW and output it works just fine.
For the use in a digital domain crossover and room correction in JRiver it is just fine.
I wrote it for anybody who may be interested in duplicating my experience.
