Monolith 124459 - help?
« on: January 16, 2021, 06:11:32 pm »

Hello!

Recently purchased, and it turned up today, the Monolith 124459.
Ripped it out of the box, plugged it into my Win 10 PC with USB...bliss.

Except.

I have a problem where audio just stops playing completely.
JRiver keeps running, looks like it is still playing, the XMOS USB driver software claims it sees the DAC but the audio is just... gone. Switching inputs then back doesn't fix it. I don't know if switching inputs plays audio yet as I don't have anything else connected to it now, but that is another step.

What I vaguely recall from having a USB AUNE X1 some time ago, I had an issue where it needed to have a standardized sample and bit rate.
My collection still has a small smattering of WMA/MP3, but also includes some WAV and FLAC. It doesn't seem to stop on any particular format though.

I guess what I am asking is, does this sound right? Should I send all my output as 192 KHz and call it a day? When I do this, it seems to work just fine - haven't had a drop yet.

Given this is JRiver, I am not worried that upscaling my audio will cause any issues from a sound perspective. Just trying to see if this is normal behavior for anyone else that may have a Monolith DAC/AMP.

Thanks for any input!
