JRiver MC 27.0.66 (64-bit) Windows 10 / Cannot view cover art or show file locations
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
In Albums view, the action right-click on album > view extras > view cover art, an error message appears: “Playback Problem - Something wrong with playback - The media type ‘image’ is not supported “.
In Albums view, the action right-click on album > locate > on disk (external) results in no response.
In Albums view, the action right-click on album > cover art > add from file, Windows File Explorer opens to a jpg image file in the wrong media folder. At this point I performed this action on many other media folders and they all went to that same image in the media folder.
For all albums, under Tags - All Fields, tag “Image file” value is “Inside File”. This conflicts with Options > File Location > Cover Art > Audio Mode: In a specified folder. The specified folder is c:\users\cassee\documents\jriver\media center 27\cover art\albums. Finally, under Tags - Fields with Values, tag “Image File” is not included in the list, even though it contains a value.
ACTIONS TAKEN
1. Confirmed that the action right-click on album > view extras > view booklet retrieves pdf files without a problem.
2. Confirmed that the specified cover art folder contains a jpg file for all 645 albums. 135 media library folders (one per album) also have a separate jpg image file. All 645 albums have a thumbnail in Albums view.
3. Confirmed that jpg files in music (media) library folder and jpg files in cover art folder all open correctly when opened from Windows File Explorer instead of MC 27.
4. Moved cover art specified file from C: drive (where MC resides) to D: drive (with media library) and updated specified cover art path to the D: location. No improvement; moved it back to C: drive.
5. Ran File > Library > Clear library. Restored most recent library backup.
6. Restored library from 1 month before this problem started; problem still occurred. Restored most recent library backup.
7. Ran Options > File location > Clean cover art folder.
8. Uninstalled - reinstalled MC 27.
9. Re-imported media.
10. Restored most recent library.
11. Moved cover art to D:\Documents\Cover Art and updated specified cover art path to the new location. The new location is now on the same drive as the media library.
12. Scanned both C: and D: drives with the Windows tool; no errors found. Laptop is less than 3 months old and no problems have occurred with any other apps.
13. Confirmed that other MC features (e.g. playback, importing, view updating) work correctly.
14. Executed all checks in the Troubleshooting Guide.
15. Log file is attached to this post.
I have spent at least 30 hours on researching solutions with no success. Been running MC for about three years with no problem I couldn’t solve. Desperate!
