Another version, another crash
« on: April 08, 2003, 08:48:04 am »

After having some problems the last couple of days (see other threads, though it may not be necessary), I appearantly successfully installed 9.0.144 this afternoon. All is well, except that when I click the text 'Audio' or its icon (the three dots) in the view scheme window, MC closes. There's the usual msg going to Microsoft about Media Core having a problem etc. Expanding or collapsing 'Audio' by clicking the + or the - signs works well, though. Just thought you'd like to know.

Try removing (backup if necessary) your library.  It's the .jmd files in the C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\Data directory.  Rename them to .old or something just to test.

Let us know if that helps.

Report System Info.

Are you using Skins? Have you tried importing on a clean library.

What files do you have imported (jpgs, wmv, http://). Are they in local format (C:\,D:\) or UNC (\\Computer\).

Anything you changed from the default installation?

I'll think of some more stuff.

I did some fiddling around with skins prior to The Big Accident. Not many of them appear in the recent installation (Green Eyes, PixOS, Tekno and Z). Don't know what you mean with importing on a dean library. I haven't imported any other files than a few jpeg files (album covers), all kept in the C:\Programfiles\JRiver\ etc folder.

Here we go:

Don't ask me how, but after doing the tenth or so re-import of files, everything seems to run smoothly. Thanks for the tips and suggestions through my three threads :-)
