Playback 5.1 dts-ma music files
« on: March 23, 2021, 04:38:31 pm »

I just upgraded from mc20 to 27 and lost my ability to play my iso dts-ma audio files created from SACD 5.1 discs. In mc20 it would give me a pop-up help when something wouldn't play (like try this). Any help on what to change in settings? In DSP studio I have output en to none and channels to source number of chan ?

The wiki could probably help.  Look for bitstreaming and for dts.

Pure audio files cannot be bitstreamed (DSD being an exception) ... that feature is reserved to video atm ... maybe its time to change that :)?

If you selected encoding to none, MC will output in PCM. Since you selected to output number of channel same as source, make sure whatever is receiving that audio supports it (in your case 5.1 in PCM).

PS. how is your PC connected to receiving end (what is the receiving end? ... DAC? ... TV?) ... HDMI?

the files I'm trying to play are described as -

This is the original 5.1 surround mix encoded in 24/96 (or 48) Lossless DTS-MA... Source used are the 24/88 lossless PCM tracks Ripped digitally from the SACD release.

The disc format is AVCHD and can ONLY be played on Blu-ray players that support this format.

These files played fine in MC20 but when I upgraded to MC27 I couldn't play them. Now even MC20 isn't playing them  :P

When I click the iso it just flashes and never starts. So no audio path. I'm using DVD Fab Virtual Drive to mount it. My 2 chan SACD iso's play fine.

You mention these are AVCHD format iso (which is a bit starange ... as wiki says that format only support AC3 or PCM for audio). Maybe they have copy protection.

DVDfab can remove copy protection when you rip the disc but not sure if DVDfab can remove copy protection on fly.

They were downloads and here is note that came with them -

This is the original 5.1 surround mix encoded in 24/96 (or 48) Lossless DTS-MA... Source used are the 24/88 lossless PCM tracks Ripped digitally from the SACD release.

The disc format is AVCHD and can ONLY be played on Blu-ray players that support this format.

If your HT gear does not support DTS-MA, you can still play the core DTS 1.5 kb/s stream via coax/spdif out.

The ISO file fits on a DVD5 - You can use a regular single layer DVD- or + R - you do NOT need a bluray blank!!

Highly recommended that you use IMGBURN to burn your disc. There is no artwork attached.

I have uploaded a regular 5.1 DTS version as well - it is a DVD format playable on any DVD Player

Enjoy!

*These files played fine in MC20 but when I installed MC27 it reset MC20 to not playing them

Did you try a search?  Try searching at Google and adding JRiver:   dts + jriver

Here's an example of what you can find:

In DSP Studio selct Output Format and under Output Encoding select "Dolby Digital (requires Dolby Digital decoder) > Channels 5.1 channels.

Let me know.  (This will work for 2 channel files too.  Your Marantz will handle it.)
