Recent problem with Media Server
« on: April 04, 2003, 04:48:10 pm »

I have been having trouble with Media Server for the past 3+ releases.  The client can connect to the server and see the server's library.  However, when I select a song to play, the client displays a "Waiting" message near the progress meter and player controls.  The server lists "2% Stopped" under status.  The music never plays.

I have been working around lately by importing the music into the default library (the files are on a network drive).  If I need to do something to fix this please let me know.  Everything worked before until earlier this week.   All of my files are APEs, and no network changes have ocurred.

Thanks,
Russell

Media Server doesn't work with APE's for me either.

But I wasn't sure if it was supposed to or not.

Anyone know anything more about this?  I really want to use Media Server.  It has worked very well until a couple of releases ago.  I thought that it would be resolved quickly, but now with the messages about MC coming out of beta, I am concerned that this problem might persist.

Please let me know if I can do something to resolve this issue.  Otherwise, when should it be resolved?  Surely MC will not go to press without being able to serve APEs.  Right?

Thanks, John.  I have been using Media Server and APEs for a month or more now.  I have one server and two client machines.  No problems until earlier this week (release 140, or so).

I do not use any other types of files, so I do not know whether the problem is file-type specific, or not.
