32. Changed: Tuned the large font selection sizing so a little bigger fonts will not show the dialog.

18. Changed: When opening 3 or 5 channel files, we will try to auto-configure as 5.1 and offer that as one of the choices.
19. Changed: When opening 7 channel files, we will try to auto-configure as 7.1 and offer that as one of the choices.
20. Changed: Tweaked the text of the auto-configure dialog to be more clear and to not report the bitdepth (since that isn't the actual output bitdepth).
21. Fixed: Google lyrics lookup could contain junk at the end of the lyrics.
22. Changed: MCWS no longer requires authentication for functions marked to not require authentication.
23. NEW: Added the right-click command Get Sharing URL... to get a URL from MCWS to share externally (it uses your external IP address, so you will need to setup port forwarding on your router).
24. Fixed: TV Channel grouping did not work with DMS channels.
25. NEW: When running "Auto Group" on all TV channels, users are presented with a list of tuner types to select, so one can choose which types of channels are included in the auto group process.
26. Fixed: System and display sleep weren't being prevented when playing audio (via HDMI) or video on macOS Big Sur.

27.0.62 (2/9/2021)

1. Fixed: Crashes could occur in various places (reconfiguring the output plugin on sample rate incompatibility was one).

27.0.61 (2/4/2021)

1. Fixed: Lyrics lookups stopped working.
2. Changed: When opening 3 or 5 channel files, we will try to auto-configure as 5.1 and offer that as one of the choices.
3. Changed: When opening 7 channel files, we will try to auto-configure as 7.1 and offer that as one of the choices.
4. Changed: Tweaked the text of the auto-configure dialog to be more clear and to not report the bitdepth (since that isn't the actual output bitdepth).
5. Fixed: Filling the selected files from Theater View could get all the files instead of just the selected files.
6. Fixed: DLNA server, when the Audio output is set to "Selected Format only when Necessary" wav and mp3 files wouldn't be converted if the output format selected was the same as the input format which prevented DSD studio transformations from being applied.
7. NEW: DLNA conversion to DSD (dsf 1x).
8. Changed: Changed implementation of DMS TV channel playback and recording.  It should behave much better, in particular when playing a channel that is currently recording.
9. Fixed: If MC was started connected to a library server and the user switched to the main library, there were multiple superfluous error boxes popped up.

Re: JRiver Media Center 27.0.85 for Mac Intel --memory usage is down :-)
« Reply #1 on: April 26, 2021, 04:41:42 am »

Thanks for the latest release.

Memory usage is down from avg 550 MB to about 400 MB (CPU usage is slightly up, as expected.)
{Testing it with a Chick Corea record of about 670 MB (flac).}

Question: does the library size (mine is 175,5 MB (.zip)) have an impact or is it already loaded as segments?

Re: JRiver Media Center 27.0.85 for Mac Intel -- Available here
« Reply #2 on: April 28, 2021, 04:55:37 am »

I recently updated from Catalina 10.15.7 to Big Sur 11.4 beta 1, to get support for my AMD 6900XT GPU.

Since upgrading the OS, Media Center has started to crash regularly in one specific scenario: one video ending and another starting while "Hardware accelerate video decoding when possible" is enabled in Options -> Video.

I've experienced the problem in both 27.0.79 and 27.0.85.

> If I have more than one video in Playing Now, at the end of the current video MC will usually crash if "Hardware decoding" is enabled in Options -> Video.
> If I have only one video in Playing Now, there is never a crash when the video ends. So the problem seems to relate to the transition between two videos.
> Likewise, if I click Stop during video playback, there is never a crash.
> No problem experienced with playing audio.
> Further confirming the link with video decoding, when "Hardware decoding" is enabled I get the crash almost every time at the end of a H264 video (MKV container), whereas it has never happened with XVID MP4 (AVI) files.
> Disabling "Hardware decoding" appears to avoid the problem.

I haven't experienced any problems in other programs using accelerated video decoding, for example VLC and DaVinci Resolve Studio (video editing software which makes extensive use of hardware accelerated encode and decode for H264 and H265), so it seems specific to Media Center, and only in the specific circumstance of one video ending and another starting immediately.

For now I have disabled hardware decoding to avoid the problem.

Attached are two recent crash logs.

Thanks.

Thank you for the update!
Unfortunately, JRiver cannot play FLAC streams here anymore. The previous version works fine though.

Streams tried:
http://hd.stream.frequence3.net/frequence3.flac
https://stream.and-stuff.nl:8443/riverside
http://89.223.45.5:8000/progressive-flac

Big Sur 11.3 (20E232) on Intel hardware.

Thanks for the feedback. The ICY changes probably affect that though it appears to work in windows. We'll check it out.
Edit: Verified not working in windows either.

I've gone thru the setup procedure, and afterwards I'm still at .85 version.  .86 or .87 have the same behavior, one machine tried was 11.3 and the other was 10.13.6

I just tried the universal installer and got the same result.

Sorry, what is this in reference to?
There are 2 different issues in this thread.

I can't get either the .86 or .87 versions to install on my Intel based MacMini.  I go thru the complete installation procedure, I do an about Media Center and it reports back version .85 is installed.  When I do the install it says do you want to replace the version, I say yes... It goes thru the install, and still shows .85 I tried the Intel and universal installers.  I noticed they are exactly the same size, it's almost like the posted installers are the .85 versions......

I have done everything except uninstall and reinstall (which I'd rather not have to do to mess with the library)

Not sure what you are seeing, I just downloaded from the link at the top of this post to my Intel MacBook Pro 2014 over the existing version (86) and it's now 87.
if you are concerned you could do a library backup, then delete the Media Center 27.app from Applications and then install from the link again.
The user files and library are not affected when you delete the App.

27.0.88 (6/25/2021)

1. Fixed: Mac date code was broken for non-US formats.

Hm, well, after the update the date format is broken for me. I had the European date format displayed until 27.0.87, but now I always get the US date and time format.
