Need help verifying a problem
« on: April 06, 2003, 07:48:23 am »

143 would not update tags for me yesterday. Files were not read only. Files were ripped and created with MC.

The method I used:

Rip as uncompressed wave. (Did several cds.) Went to Media Library > used Keyword > File Type > Wave.

Convert to mp3 VBR with alt preset fast extreme as command line setting. Converted files.

Upon completion, files were listed as just track# - name. EG: 02 - blahblah. No artist or album info was included in the conversion. Some also had duration lengths that exceded 40 minutes, for a 3-5 minute song.

Tags are set to auto update in options.

Can someone try this and see if it was just me. I would like to think it might have just been a bad install on my part.

JimH-

Still getting duration and bitrate error with one disc I have:

1 Jimi Hendrix - The Ultimate Experience - All Along The Watchtower 4:01 196 1 mp3 1993
2 Jimi Hendrix - The Ultimate Experience - Purple Haze 2:42 214 2 mp3 1993
3 Jimi Hendrix - The Ultimate Experience - Hey Joe 23:10 32 3 mp3 1993

1 & 2 are fine. 3 has wrong bitrate and length shown (bold). This is just one example, there several from the above cd that are wrong. Using 143 again to test.

I think I'll try EAC and see if it does multiple reads on this particular cd. Maybe it is a bad disc. More later.

EAC does not produce these errors. Bitrate and length come out correctly. Don't know what to say... :-/

Same encoder, same settings?

Are you ripping in secure mode in MC?

Should be the same encoder. Lame 3.92. Settings are the same, aps fast extreme.

No I'm not using digital secure with MC. Large Buffer.

Gonna try a clean install tomorrow. Getting late to be playing with this now.  ;)
