Unless there is a setting I cannot find, MC27 will not remember the columns widths like MC26 does.  It makes it VERY frustrating.  Until I know this is corrected I will not be using MC27 or any subsequent version; I will stay with MC26 )even though I have purchased MC27)

Make sure you turn off column auto-sizing.  Options > Tree & View > List

if you're using the Play button and/or Image (small thumbnails) columns, those won't stay resized regardless of auto-sizing option. so it results in the perception the entire row of columns are thrown off. can't say if is true for some of the other column selections or not.

either deselect the column(s) that won't stay resized or let them remain and list them first where the visual impact on the rest of the columns are lessened.
