Author Topic: DLNA specified output format dsf: loud click at end of each track  (Read 699 times)

When streaming to my SoTM sMS-200 Ultra Neo network renderer, if I choose dsf as specified output format, there is a loud click at the end of each track. When I choose PCM, there is no click.
Any idea what I could do to solve this?

It's probably the DAC producing the sound and it may happen when the format changes.  You can use MC's DSP Studio to force everything to the same format.

These clicks are not uncommon and can be hard to track down.  They often are something the DAC manufacturer has to fix.  Some questions.

Do you have the same problem when connecting through the USB?

Are you playing a string of DSD files or are they a mixture of DSD and PCM.

Are these DSD files or are you converting to DSD on the fly?  Does it matter which you do?

Are you using DoP or native sample rates?

Mute between the tracks will solve the problem . Regardless of type of DAC in use or mixture of formats.

Solved!
I deactivated 'output format' in DSP, my DAC receives DSD64 and there is no more clicking.

My DAC setup is Mutec MC-3+ USB reclocker+ Denafrips Terminator.
This may seem strange as the Mutec converts the DSD signal back to PCM 176.
But strangely enough my ears like this best.

Answering dtc's questions:

> Do you have the same problem when connecting through the USB?
The connection now is SoTM sMS-200 => USB => Mutec => AES/EBU => Terminator
The Mutec has only one (bidirectional) USB connection, so I cannot use a USB cable between it and the Terminator.

Source files are one type (f.i. flac 16/44). I use MC27's new DLNA option to convert to DSD64 on the fly.

See previous. When I play native DSD files (without MC27 converting to DSD64 via DLNA) there is no problem.
