just wanted to thank BryanC for his time and effort.  Its a tall order to take a windows console application and make it run smoothly headless on linux, and good music clients are hard.  There are just too many rough edges for me at this time.  I hope to try jriver again when headless linux support and tablet interfaces are a bit more mature.  Best of luck for the project.

The virtual desktop program you're using may be the cause of all the problems.  Best to try another.  A new thread would be a good place for discussion.  MC runs fine headless, and has for many years.

Sorry to barge in here.
Is running the linux package a must or would it work for you to run MC in docker? I am running MC on two different machines (rPi4 on Debian and a Synology DS1819+, both headless) the Synology MC runs in docker (shiomax image), the rPi4 has the MC package and both work flawlessly via RealVNC. Good luck!

I'm a long time user of the windows version of MC - now installing it on Garuda Linux (Arch distro). Don't know how?? I download the installJRMC file, tried to execute it but no result or action. What are the steps to install it in a arch linux environment from the commandline (or other) Thanks in advance!! On n

For Arch Linux based distros you'll have to install it from Arch's AUR or manually using a PKGBUILD. installJRMC doesn't support support Arch Linux if I recall correctly.

If anyone checks this, I've added rudimentary and untested Arch Linux support to installJRMC v1.0-rc4.

You'll need to use the '--install local' option and might as well turn debugging on because it's probably necessary at this point:

Code: [Select]
./installJRMC --install local --debug

I am trying to install JRiver using the latset version of Debian. Downloaded "installJRMC" and in console I install and this is what I get:

kees@audiopc:~/Downloads$ sudo ./installJRMC --mcversion 28.0.106
Starting installJRMC
To enable debugging output, use --debug or -d
Using MC version 28.0.106 determined by user input

Nothing happens, no installation? What am I doing wrong?

Don't run the script with sudo.
