Video is Yellow Instead of Green
« on: June 27, 2021, 06:21:23 am »

Hi,

MC 28 installed with no problems, but when I try to use television or run videos the presentation of video colours is not correct. There are yellows where there ought to be green and other colours are also affected.

Colours for images are correct.

Can anyone help? I'm in Europe and I wondered whether it might be down to video standards being incompatible with the defaults selected by the new installation but couldn't find anything that refers to any setting that affects that.

MC 27 worked without problems but now, if I run it, it displays the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated

I'll move this to a new thread.

It's not the video standard.

If you're using Red October HQ, try RO Std  in  video settings.  That will tell you if it's related to madVR.

Check for loose cables.

More details might help.

Hello Jim,

Thanks for the prompt reply and the suggestions.

I've checked the Video settings and it's similar on both RO HQ and RO Standard. I checked - and have rechecked the connections. I'm running over HDMI at 1920 by 1024 from a Dell Machine using an Intek HD Graphics 4600 refreshing at 75p Hx My monitor is an Iiyama Freesync.

Video colours display correctly using other programs - like Microsoft's Film & TV or Photo viewer. WinTV 10 also produces correct colour images. Playback from streamed services such as Netflix display normally.

I've included a grab of a short video of our tortoise using JRM 28 and another from Microsoft's Film & TV illustrate what I mean together with the file properties.

If anything else might be useful please let me know?

In the meantime many thanks for your reply. Anything further you could suggest would be appreciated.

Regards,

John

I've looked through the settings and help. Nothing has made any difference. The video picture colours remain wrong - predominantly yellows - but only for JRM and only since the upgrade to 28.

All other video programs display the correct colours.

I upgraded to 28.0.32 (64-bit) today but it made no difference.

I think that one of the program settings has defaulted to a different value during the upgrade and I have no idea what it is.

Up to the latest version things were working well.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful to hear them. Until then I'll keep looking through the options but as I've already spent many hours on it, I doubt I'll see anything new.

All I can do is wait for subsequent program upgrades and hope whatever changed is changed back. It's not a good strategy but it has worked in the past.

Regards,

John

Set video in MC to Red October Standard.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried that after your first reply and have confirmed it now.

It makes no difference

I've attached a quick screen scrape of the video settings in case anything else is incorrect.

If you think of anything else I'll be pleased to hear of it !

All the best,

John

What is the video file type?  And what is the source of the video?

When playing the video, right click on the video window, select Color Controls, make sure everything is on Neutral, or try changing some of the sliders, maybe there is something weird in there.

Hi there,

Many thanks for your reply and suggestions.

I've tried your suggestions, set them to default and to a number of other settings but none seem to make any difference at all.

Here, in case it's of any use, is the Filter Graph Info. It means little or nothing to me but perhaps it'll give you some idea of what might be wrong.

As always if anything occurs to you, I'd be pleased to hear it.

Regards.

John

What is the video file type?  And what is the source of the video?

The video file type is MP4/ Compression h264m, audio aac. The file was originally taken on a mobile and is being played from the local hard disc

Some further information:

I'm using the most recent build 28.0.44

I have updated the BIOS to version A25

C:\WINDOWS\system32>wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion
SMBIOSBIOSVersion
A25

I also updated the video drivers

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

OpenCL* Version: 1.2

Neither made any difference but whereas before only JR Media Centre had problems with playing video, I have found that the Hauppauge Win10 rendering is normal for the high-definition television but suffers from the same colour cast for standard definition television.

JR Media Centre still shows a cyan and magenta cast.

As always if anyone has any suggestions I'd be pleased to hear them.
