Play files from one MC to another MC in the same Network
« on: July 01, 2021, 06:14:44 pm »

Hi

My system configurations is:

One JRiver MC 28, in a mini PC in my living room connected via USB to a Pioneer N50A, and another copy in a Laptop, both running Windows 10.

I have also a Raspberry PI 4 with LMS + Picoplayer in my workshop.

Both copy's see the Pioneer N50A and the Picoplayer as DMR´s. But none of them see the other JRiver MC.

I want to send to > play files from the Laptop to the MC in the living room. What configuration do I have to make?

Thanks

Hi

Thanks to the Andrew's DMRA tool, I was able to figure out the problem.

Both copy's of JRiver MC 28 DMR´s have the same Unique Device Name (uuid).

This normal ? Any ideas on how to overcome this problem?

Thanks

The UUID's are created randomly when the program is run and when other zones are added.
Since you say they are the same, I can only assume the settings files were copied from one computer to the other or a library and settings restored on both computers.

You could simply delete the User Settings.ini file from one of the machines, it will be recreated. Of course any other user settings will be lost and you'll have to re-enter them.

As an alternative, you could just edit one of the user settings file, find that UUID and delete the entry that contains it.

Hi Bob

Thanks for Yours reply.

I think the problem is that I restore the Libraries from the same files (located in Onedrive), when I update from MC26 to MC27.
I only find the "User Settings.ini" file in user\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 26\Temp\Settings.

The solution I found was to make a clean install in the laptop.
Now both are working ok.

Where can I find the "User Settings.ini" file in the MC28 installation?

Thanks

Yup, that was your problem. If you need to do that in the future, uncheck the "restore settings" box on one of the restores you are doing.

In windows the MC User Settings are in the registry, not in a separate file. Sorry I forgot that. Your clean install would fix that.

IIRC, you can also re-create the KEY in Options>Media Network>Access Key>Reset... which did resolve the same issue for me.

I didn't think the key recreation would fix a duplicate renderer UUID. Interesting that it seemed to for you.

To be honest I am not totally positive it was a UUID problem. I did the same thing with restoring a database and ran into a similar problem with using the library when I noticed they had the same key. When I recreated the key in one of the libraries the issue went away.

Hi Bob and HaWi

I notice that HaWi use Mac's I use Windows, maybe they react different.

I tried a lot of times to recreate the keys but with no success.

The only solution for me is: Clean install both PC's and from now on use separated backup's.
