Claims licence file is for a different product
« on: July 22, 2021, 11:16:28 pm »

I'm sure I did everything correct.  I went back and checked everything.  I have MC 26 but have other versons on the computer.  I got the code for MC 26 upgrade to MC 28.

EDITED OUT LICENSE

Everything went smooth except when I tried to install it.  I have 532444.mjr.

It gave me an error  licence file is for a different product.

==================================================

Thanks for fixing my mess up. It never occured to me that the code should not made public.  I was thinking they would need that to see of I had done something wrong during the install process.

I've been off line for a week, so today was the first time to see what advise I had.

I started by going to my emails and searching for JRiver in my overwhelming number of emails.  I need to carpet  bomb the unsub again.

The first email gave me a code and a link to download/install JRiver.  I had it installed but figured a cold start was best.  It then asked for the code, which was also in the email. Cut and paste and, to my suprise, JRiver came up..

I only needed to adjust the settings.  I have a lot of sound devices attached to my computer so it often gets confused.  Taking the default brought up JRiver 28!  I was expecting hours of playing with install and settings.  Turned out to be five minutes job.

Thanks for the help.  Now I'll have fun digging into the new addons. I'm really looking foward to having my hi-res media on line without degrading the sound.

Thanks again.

I am sure Jim will chime in any moment, in the mean time can you try to save the license file on your computer, find it with File Explorer and right click it. Then choose Open With ... and find the correct mediacenter version you would like to open it with (the version you wish to register the license with).

I suspect an older version of MC is linked to the license file extension, hence the message.

Also don't post your registration key publicly, doing so can/will cause it to get revoked, so I edited it out of your post.

You must first download and install MC28, then restore your MC28 license.  Details are here:  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License
