ipod doesn't appear under handhelds in MC
« on: April 03, 2003, 04:23:55 am »

Hi,
I'm a greenhorn concerning MC (reg. Version 9.0.139)
but I love it !

Now I got the following problem ...
Ipod 20GB Version 1.2.1, works fine with one PC ...
but it doesn't work with my second PC !

The ipod doesn't appear in MC V9.0.139 (latest plugin Version, changing name of device doesn't succed)

also it's properly connected and appears as external drive under my System (WIN2000 SP3)

What's the difference? The computer is quite new and WIN Sys is nearly identical. :(

One difference is, that I installed Xplay on the working system, but that can't be the key.

any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

gfabi,

Try changing the volume label of the ipod to "IPOD". If you are still stuck, try formatting the iPod and then reconnect. It is possible XPlay has formatted the iPod in a way that we cannot recognize it.

Does the iPod appear as a removable drive on the second PC? If it doesn't, download the Apple 1.2.6 updater and install it onto the PC. That will allow you to access the iPod as a removable drive which will then allow MC to access the iPod. You don't need to update the firmware on the iPod if you don't want to.
