Web Browser Choices... maybe add "None" ??

On my system I have trouble using Chromium and Edge as the MC "browser".  Once every few days, my Windows 10 system will blue screen.. and I get a horrible sound through my speakers as it creates an "error report" before it actually reboots.

If I set Microsoft Explorer in options... I don't get those crashes.  I don't use any of the MC features that requires a web browser... so using Microsoft Explorer is an acceptable option.

But... in the future, Microsoft Explorer may not be available.

I suspect there is some issue between Chrome based browsers and my audio drivers...  I get the system crash more often when I actually use the Chrome browser with MC playing.  (so I use Firefox as my PC browser... no issues)

So for those of us that don't need any web browser for our use of MC... maybe add a "None" choice to future proof MC for use with Windows 11?

A blue screen is a hardware problem. Probably the video driver.

I wish I knew what causes the blue screen when using MC with Chrome or a chromium browser set in Options.  No matter what the cause, I have no idea how to correct it and there is an absolute relationship.

The last time I reinstalled Windows, it took me about 10 days with a new machine to get it all set up to run my home and audio system, so not really an option.

I am not blaming MediaCenter, I'm just asking that maybe include a NONE option for the web browser in MC options to future proof it for me when Internet Explorer is no longer available for those of that don't use any of the MC features that requires a web browser.

Use an app like BlueScreenView to view what the minidumps say is the cause.

Still hardware.  A driver is for hardware.

When we say that a BSOD is a hardware problem, we mean that there's a physical malfunction (bad memory, blown caps, shoddy PSU, etc). These BSODs tend to be random, you get a different one each time. It requires new parts to fix.

Software/Driver BSODs on the other hand are caused by bugs or conflicts in the driver stack (software), and usually lead to a consistent BSOD number. This requires only a reinstall or reconfig.

Then there's disk structure corruption which can also cause a BSOD, and that is arguably neither software nor hardware, it's data.
