Is there an up to date list of Library fields somewhere?
« on: August 09, 2021, 10:07:36 pm »

Looking here:
https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Predefined_Library_Fields

but there are many fields that are not mentioned. I'm trying to make a list of the fields that I have created, so it's a bit confusing. For example, I have:
Movement (which I may have created)
Movement Count
Movement Number

I do not recall ever creating the last two, but they do not appear in that list I linked to.

There are numerous others that I know I did not create, but do not appear on that list.

Unfortunately that list hasn't been updated since 2016 so there are quite a few fields/tags that have been added since, including those 3 Movement Related ones + "Work".

I came across the same problem when creating the Tags Page of my track info plugins and ended up reading through the release notes for every version since MC15 to find out what new tags/fields had been added and then checked the Manage Library Fields Option to find out what format they were.

Although they are not in the same alphabetical order that they appear on the page you linked to the HTML file for the tags page in my plugins will provide you with a list of all the tags/fields that are in the Database/Library as of MC 27, some more have been added in MC28. P.S. If you do go that route you may spot some tags/fields that may not exist in your Database/Library, as a fan of Classical Music I realised there were a lot of "useful/meaningful" tags/fields that were missing.

You can read about my TrackInfo plugins here - https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,129621.0.html

On the Manage Library Fields menu, you can select "Show only user fields".

That's thrown up some inexplicable fields (definitely never created by me):
Bios
ChapterDB #
Mood
Preference
Tempo

The last one (Tempo) may offer a clue. None of the others have any data for any file in my collection. Tempo has data for 76 Steve Khan tracks (all saying 00000 BPM), and 10 David Torn tracks (all saying 0 BPM).

I suspect that may mean that the Tempo tag has come in from the tracks when they were imported, and perhaps it's the same for the other four tags (and they might have been for albums that have since been deleted).

Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

I suspect that I can just delete the 5 fields (none are calculated data).

SoT creates some fields for some of its functions. Perhaps you used that, or some other tool that may also create fields as needed. These would also be 'user created fields'.
Importing does not create any field, even if the info is on the file's tags.
