MC versions that run under Win 7?
« on: August 19, 2021, 08:32:56 am »

My brother is considering computer audio.  He has a machine running Win 7. Question: which MC versions run under Win 7? Secondly, do you have any beginner-level advice, for me, or for him?  Many thanks, Pete

The current version, Media Center 28, should still run under Windows 7. Though I will warn you that Windows 7 is no longer getting security updates and it's highly recommended to upgrade to Windows 10 (which as far as I know is still free to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10).

I am running current versions of MC on Windows 7.  I still have some software that does not run on Windows 10, so keep a Windows 7 system around. MC 28 runs fine of it, although there may be some options that don't work correctly. I am doing audio almost exclusively, with only occasional video.  Agree with AD that you should update to Windows 10 if possible.
