When entering characters in the search window, you can enter inline in English, but you cannot enter inline in Japanese.

When entering characters in Japanese in the search window, Japanese character conversion is performed, and after confirming the entered characters, the character strings are entered at once.

In many other applications, the unconverted characters are also displayed in the search field.

We hope that the next version of JRiver Media Center will behave like any other application.

Can you explain a bit more what you meant?

I can not type Japanese characters myself, but I do Chinese.  When I enter Chinese characters, we rely on system language bar.  Whatever Chinese characters are presented in the language bar, the user has to select.  Once selected, the Chinese characters are entered into the Search Window.

Thanks for the reply.
Let me explain the current situation in more detail.

If you search in English, the search text will be entered inline.

Enter Japanese.
Then it will not be typed inline, but will be displayed elsewhere.

When you have finished typing in Japanese, the text will be entered in the search window.
This behavior is not limited to the search window, but also applies to other places where you enter text.
For example, when you create a playlist, it will behave the same way.

This is a screenshot of me typing in Japanese on Microsoft's edge. In other applications, characters are entered in the input window while you are typing.
We would like JRiver Media Center to behave like any other application.

The screenshot is from JRiver Media Center 27.
JRiver Media Center 28 cannot be entered in the same way.

So, when you type Japanese in an Edit window, the typing appears in a small box outside of MC, perhaps in the upper left corner of the computer screen, until you finalize typing.  Then the correct text appear in MC.

That is the behavior I see too.  I am not sure if there is a better way, but we will investigate.

I can input inline without any problem with many other software, so I'd be happy if MC could also input.

I uploaded a video to youtube.

Search for English words at JRiver media center 28

Search for Japanese words in JRiver Media Center 28
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrFRPG4rxiU

Search for English words at foobar2000
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OHp7ZOm_2w

Search for Japanese words at foobar2000
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tqy77UlRkfE

I used foobar2000 as an example, but other applications can also use inline input in Japanese.

I hope that JRiver media center will also be able to provide inline input in Japanese.
