Directory name as album for imported images?
« on: March 14, 2003, 06:19:14 am »

Hey folks,

I just purchased MC9 with the primary goal of adding images to the same library as music. In MJ8 when you imported you had a checkbox for using file/directory names as artist/title, etc.

In MC9 I would like to be able to import my existing images which are already organized in folders and have the folder name populate the MC9 album field...looked through Help and boards, but can't see that option.

Can someone point me the right direction? Thanks.

I don't know about having the Properties filled on import, but you can use Fill Properties From Filename to do what you want.

Thanks Rob, but...
I can't find a reference to Fill Properties From Filename. I looked through Help, but still seems to be MJ8 help in MC9.  Seems like that was a checkbox on Import screen in MJ8, but MC9 only has skip short files and Search in Subdirectories.

Any other ideas would be helpful.
Thanks

Would someone PRETTY PLEASE help answer this question?

Fill properties from filename is mentioned in MJ8 help, but is NOT on the advanced import screen in MC9.

BTW, when will there be a MC9 help file?

I need to know how to do this in MC9? Anyone??

Select a file, hit alt-enter to get to properties, choose tools.  It's on the list.

Also on the right click menu.

Make sure you have the latest version of MC.

Thanks JimH...I was expecting an option when the file was imported and didn't know to look here.

I suppose I can select a group of images after importing and do the Fill from...? Only it seems to be geared only to music, for images I used ARTIST/ALBUM, but the ARTIST was filled from directory above in tree. Might be nice to have a separate option for images that just did ALBUM from one level directory?

It's workable as is, though...thanks for steering me.

The examples are geared towards music but you can enter whatever you want into the 'Fill properties from Filename box' and so gear it towards whatever fields, media type you want ;)
