Restore library backup from Linux to Windows
« on: September 21, 2021, 01:16:13 pm »

I'm trying to restore a Linux library backup on a Windows machine running MC28. I'm having trouble easily pointing filepaths towards their new locations.

I was hoping I could do a Rename search and replace "\" for "/", but that happened automatically with a lot of errors. "\\?", for example appeared in the filepath. I thought I got them changed after a few tries, but then auto-import imported a bunch of doubles into the library, almost one for every file.

Any suggestions here on how to proceed? I have 31k files in the library, so I'm hoping I don't have to do a lot of manual work.

I'm on the latest Windows build.

So in addition to changing the file paths you'll also need to change the platform.jmd file.  I'd suggest trying these migration steps from windows to Linux, but reversed as applicable:

Thank you very much, I'll follow that carefully and post how it goes. Much appreciated.
