Help with 9.0.88
« on: March 27, 2003, 05:02:11 pm »

I have version 9.0.88 installed on my IBM T23 with Windows 2000, and for over a month now I have not been able to use the update function (Ctrl+J).  It keeps giving me a "Failed to connect to server".  I have tried from my home DSL, work, and even hotels on the road and it will not work.  Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Methinks it's time to upgrade to 135....

The first thread in this forum has a link to the newest release.

O.K.  So I went there.  D/Led it.  Installed it.  And now it doesn't run.  I get the initial splash screen and then it goes off into never-never land and I have to open Task Manager and kill the process.  At least before it worked.  Now I can't even use it.  I may have to change my comment from "What an awesome program" to "They sure ** up an awesome program."  I'm not sure why I bothered to buy this now.

So I now reinstalled and rebooted my PC (yet again).  Now at least it plays audio (no video, no control panel, no nothing) - there just isn't any program.  Nothing in the active programs.  Can't do an alt-tab to it.  Nothing in task manager applications (it does show up under processes).  No way to open it and do anything.

Try completely uninstalling, reboot, and do a fresh install. Don't complain about beta software not working perfectly. Until its officially released, these are just test versions. If you're not comfortable with that, you shouldn't have bought it till the final release.

Did you use a download manager to get the latest version?  If so, what was it?

O.K.   I don't use a D/L manager so that was not the issue.  I uninstalled, reinstalled, fooled around to get the registration back and now it is working...mostly.  There are only two issues now...

1) Some JPG files won't load.  They load fine in other programs, but not Media Center.

2) The whole reason I upgraded was the Update feature.  This now seems to work...someimtes.  Now I know there is no update out there, but when I try to use it, it works about 50% of the time.  Somtimes it tells me "No updates available at this time".  Sometimes it tells me "Failed to connect to server".  It doesn't seem to be consistent.
