dvd regions
« on: December 04, 2021, 06:06:59 pm »

I'm English but I live in the USA. I guess because I have my language and date setting to be a British format, my pc think it's living in blighty.

My previous pc had a dvd drive fitted to it. It would play UK dvd's fine alone with USA ones. My new pc, has no racks for dvd drives so I bought a pioneer BDR-XD07B portable dvd burner.

I slapped in a dvd to watch and it popped up the region warning. My region is set at 2 for some reason. I can change it to 1 to play USA dvd's but this means I can't play dvd's I brought with me from the UK.

I saw online that VLC allows you to bypass the region coding when playing a dvd so I was wondering if there is a way that JRiver could implement a similar setting? I prefer to use JR for anything audio or video as it's superior.

Maybe this has been implemented in a later version? If so I'll, I'll pay for the upgrade.

You can probably use an app like MakeMKV, AnyDVD or DVDFab to bypass this limitation when trying to watch them within Media Center. That's typically the recommended course of action.

I don't work for JRiver... I help keep the forums safe from "male enhancements" and other sources of sketchy pharmaceuticals.
