28.0.92 (12/6/2021)

1. NEW: JRVR will show rendering performance metrics on the Info OSD (Ctrl-J).

1. Changed: Revised the method for getting sunrise and sunset times to hopefully work better outside the US.

3. Changed: Introduced more advanced options for JRVR to control dithering and a few performance related options.

1. Fixed: Recording on an OTA or other physical tuners could fail due to tuner conflicts, even though the channel was grouped with IPTV channels.
2. Fixed: JRVR in combination with hardware decoding could show a faint bright line at the bottom of the image in certain resolutions.
3. Fixed: If we are unable to get the sunrise and sunset times from the web, we'll do a better job of loading the default times.

28.0.88 (11/30/2021)

1. Changed: "Video -> Display Settings -> Wait after change" can be used when Display Settings are set to On/Auto, instead of only in Custom mode.
2. Fixed: Hardware deinterlacing in JRVR in combination with hardware decoding could result in a green line artifact on some videos.
3. Changed: When loading sunrise and sunset times for the Twilight skin it will use the default times instead of nothing if it fails to load.

1. Fixed: When switching zooming preset ("Fit Window", "100%", "200%"), in non-DirectShow TV playback, using the "Window" context menu added in the last build, the video might not be centered properly.
2. Fixed: Subtitles could boost the overall image brightness in JRVR when using HDR pass-through.
3. Changed: The JRVR information OSD is scaled by the Media Center size setting.
4. NEW: TV view in Standard View will have the option to "Show server status" when MC is connected to a server.
5. Changed: Lowered the brightness of subtitles when using HDR pass-through with JRVR to be more consistent with SDR content, as well as improve the color reproduction.
6. Changed: When an input sample rate is different from any of the preset sample rates, the closest match will be chosen for resampling.

Changed: When playing a ATSC TV recording, MC will try to honor "Subtitles & Language" settings "Show subtitles in selected language if available", "Show subtitles only if selected subtitle language is different from audio language", "Show subtitles only if selected subtitle language is different from audio languagem, or if the subtitles are in a sidecar file", if Closed Captioning metadata had been saved in database during recording (i.e. the recordings are done using the latest version of MC).

1. NEW: Enabled context menu items "Go To Earliest Time" and "Go To Latest Time" in time-shifted TV playback with DMS and IPTV channels.
2. Fixed: The "Tuner Type" drop-down on Configure Device dialog window did not offer proper choices with IPTV tuner.
3. Changed: "Disabled" is removed from choices in "Tuner Type" drop-down if the TV type is "IPTV" since there is no real device to be disabled.
4. Changed: The option "Disable VideoClock when not time-shifting" is no longer shown if the devices are DMS, or IPTV since non-time-shifting mode is not offered for these types.
5. NEW: "This device uses a separate audio capture filter" option in TV tuner configuration dialog window, for analog TV tuners or video capture devices.
6. Fixed: When running an analog TV tuner or a video capture device with Closed Caption option on, and video could fail to play if Closed Caption rendering failed.  With this fix, video will play without CC when CC rendering fails.
7. Changed: When playing an ATSC TV recording, the video option "Always show subtitles" in "Subtitles & Language" section will be obeyed and Closed Captioning will be shown (if available) unless the file's PlaybackInfo tag specifically says to turn it off.  This is applicable only when playing videos in using DirectShow filters.
8. Changed: Moved the Gammut and Gamma JRVR options into an "Advanced" section, as well as re-factored the Gamma option to properly indicate the intent and suggested use.
9. Fixed: JRVR would process SDR video with a HDR brightness adaptation, resulting in boosted black levels.
10. NEW: The DLNA server defaults (when no server existed previously) to original format since many modern renderers have greater capabilities than in the past.
11. NEW: Added a DLNA server template for Original Format.

28.0.80 (10/26/2021)

1. NEW: Added DCI-P3-D65 to the available target gamuts in JRVR.
2. Changed: Adjusted the JRVR HDR Tonemapping defaults for a better out-of-the-box experience.
3. Changed: You can grab and drag any tab instead of only the active one.
4. Fixed: Dragging tabs in a split view was not working nicely.

Works fine here in 92. The option applies and saves fine and I can immediately see the difference in the Ctrl-J OSD as well as all the SSSR entries disappear.

I too can't disable it well. To fix I have to disable, apply then enable the new setting and then apply again.

Among other things, the apply button does not change color after pressing it as it did before the introduction of JRVR.

I don't believe the Apply button has ever changed its color, its just not coded to do so.
There seems to be an issue where saving can be a bit inconsistent depending on which options pages you opened that I'm adressing for the next build. You should be able to avoid it by just not navigating to the Advanced page if you want to change something on the Scaling page.

Hello I have reported those two problems before on an earlier 28.0.X release, but still no changes:

(Is there a place I can upload file samples, for JRiver to verify ?)

1)   The Explorer option on Theater View does not always display the actual MKV file name (as Windows Explorer does, for instance), but instead it uses a field called File Title, which you may configure on MKNToolNix on the Output tab. I believe that most of the time this “File Title” field is left blank and Theater view defaults to the file name, but I have some examples where it’s choosing it over file name. I would much prefer for it to always use file name – Please, could this be fixed, or maybe an option created? I can send a quick test file for you to evaluate.

2)   Despite my setting on Subtitle Mode: Always show subtitles, there seems to be a bug with external (.srt) subtitles. They are not shown by default, despite indicated as properly selected – I have to turn them off and then back on, in order for them to get displayed – I have a sample file to upload somewhere if you would like.

In .92, with split views (2, side-by-side) and multiple tabs (say 6 and maybe 10), when MC has sat for a bit with the first split fully showing and the second split hidden, when I go to the second split, dragging it open with he mouse and then clicking on the left-most tab, I get an instantaneous crash, consistently.

Standard view, win10, 64bit.  Purity of Essence skin, FWIW.

Seeking in mp4 videos is odd for me, and this is different from .88 or .84.

If the video has been previously played and stopped short of the end, when I double click to play the file MC goes to the previous point VERY quickly, although a little bit disruptively, IMO. 

However, if the video is cued to the very start, MC seems to hang for a couple seconds (this may be my buffer setting) and then rush forward through the video to the elapsed time point (say, :03).  Since so many of my videos involve women efforting to improve East-West cultural relations, watching a woman go at that business in high-speed fashion is rather jarring, to say the least.  Please help.

Matt - Yesterday I installed 28.0.92 during Daytime and Twilight got the Correct Sunrise and Sunset Times and at Sunset transitioned from "DayMode" to "NightMode"

But today, I started MC at 04:10 am and when I checked it was using the 06:00 and 21:00, 9:00 pm, defaults and it's been using them ever since.

However just at 8:45 am I spotted Twilight was not in full "Day Mode" it had carried out some of the Transitions but not all of them.

While I was using the Test DLL on the odd occasions when it was using a default time at some point during the day the Default Time got replaced with the Real Time plus that version only ever fused one of the Defaults - the Sunrise One

After stopping MC, closing it down and then re-opening it Twilight was showing the real Sunrise and Sunset Times and was in "DayMode"

Today, I started MC at 3:40 am and when I checked it was using the Actual Sunset and Sunrise Times, 07:52 and 15:51, and it's been using them ever since.

However at 8:52am, an hour after Sunrise, I once again spotted Twilight was not in full "DayMode" it had carried out some of the Transitions but not all of them.

After stopping MC, closing it down and then re-opening it Twilight was showing the real Sunrise and Sunset Times and was in "DayMode"

This evening I'll check to see if the transition into NightMode also suffers from a failure to complete.

Regarding the split view crash, it appears to be happening when I click on a smartlist tab that is still calculating the contents.

Matt - as usual this morning mc was using the Twilight Skin but around 11:30 I stopped it, closed it down, used AVG Secure VPN to Teleport myself to Melbourne Australia.
When I restarted MC the Twilight Skin Info Window was showing the Correct Sunrise and Sunset Times for Melbourne: 05:51 and 20:34 whilst for London it had been showing 07:54 and 15:51.

This does NOT occur, but instead, it consistently opens to Explorer instead of the Library view, and Main Library settings page instead of the Playing Now window.

This has been happening for the past week or so after each computer restart.
