Use a 4K capture card to tone map all sources with JRVR(?) Which cards will work

There is a variant with a LT port https://www.magewell.com/products/pro-capture-hdmi-4k-plus-lt

No idea if MC television would support bitstream via this method

Specs are https://www.magewell.com/tech-specs/pro-capture-hdmi-4k-plus-lt

It's a 2.0 input, are there any that do 2.1?

There was no HDMI 2.1 capture card last time I looked, no. I have less need for this now that I have a 1,000nits TV as static tonemapping is fine for my non-HTPC source (with DV / HDR10+ when available), but in case I ever go back to projectors that would be an interesting project.

I don't really mind the HDMI 2.0 bandwidth as all my non-HTPC sources have the same limitation, but if you can't passthrough immersive audio that's a dealbreaker for me.

Thanks for the update, please let us know if you make any further progress!

Manni:
Any progress on this project?

mattkhan:
Mine works fine for me, still need to test if bitstream pass through works or not (will try to do that this weekend)

Manni:
That would be great thanks! If it does, I'd really appreciate if you could provide a bit more details on the capture cards that work, and how you get the input to benefit from JRVR tonemapping with HDR content, as that would be my primary use.
I'm thinking that if the sources go through the AVR first, it doesn't matter if there is no bitstream passtrough in the capture card.
Do you have some kind of rough diagram of your A/V chain, i.e. where is each device in the chain?
