Use a 4K capture card to tone map all sources with JRVR(?) Which cards will work

I've tested with https://www.magewell.com/products/pro-capture-hdmi-4k-plus and https://www.magewell.com/products/usb-capture-hdmi-4k-plus

I read the contents of the HDR infoframe on a frame by frame basis and tell the renderer when the format changes, this switches automatically between HDR and SDR when necessary

I'm PC only so it's v simple

sources -> vertex2 -> PC -> jvc projector

there's an LG OLED (which feeds a Denon AVR via earc) on the 2nd output from the vertex2 though that's probably not so relevant here)

Manni:
Thanks!

That's quite expensive here: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/magewell-pro-capture-hdmi-4k-plus-hdmi-20-input-loop-through-pcie-x4-interface-4096-x-2160-dci-4k-vi
Do the Blackmagic cards work too? Their 4K Capture card is about half the price: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/decklink-quad-hdmi
I guess I should follow @Yaobing's thread you linked to earlier, as it looks like it's focusing on Blackmagic's support, but it doesn't seem to be working with HDR content yet (which would be my primary use for this).

I guess in my case I would have something like:
Sources > AVR HDMI Out 2 > HD-Fury > Capture Card > HTPC > TV In 2 (probably using a DP>HDMI output of my nVidia GPU when I need to use JRVR to process/tonemap content) and
HTPC HDMI Out (and other sources) > AVR HDMI Out 1 > TV In 1 when I want to use the HTPC as a source.

Thanks again for your help/feedback!

mattkhan:
yes they're rather expensive new, they pop up on ebay with some regularity for much much less (e.g. I picked mine up for £120). There's one on there atm in fact (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156794487682?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Pt993cfKRK6&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=9YI-1Z4YTBm&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) albeit they're asking for rather more.

the alternative is to wait for Yaobing to implement similar for blackmagic cards though last I saw he doesn't have a card himself to develop with which seems like an extraordinarily hard task to take on. They don't give progress reports though so can't say if that's changed.

I do also have blackmagic card at home actually so theoretically I could port my filter to use their SDK, if I get the time perhaps I'll take a look to see if that's a relatively easy job.

Manni:
Thanks. Yes, if you look at the buy it now it's still expensinve for used and no warranty.
It would be great if you could take a look at the Blackmagic, it must indeed be really hard to develop this without access to the hardware.
I'll keep an eye on the Magewell card on e-bay (£120 would be fine of course). I won't buy a Blackmagic one until support is confirmed working. I'm not really in a hurry for this.
