I would love this support. I'd love to ditch MadVR.

Just found this thread. @Hendrik Perhaps it should be moved to MC 32 since 31 is now legacy?

Right now this idea is even more interesting as we can get devices that will output full DV Profile 7 with FEL included. So if we can plug this device to the capture card + JRVR we can achieve the best possible DV output and the best JRVR tone mapping solution.

And yes, right now I can do that with VideoProcessor + MadVR, but I prefer to not get stuck with a super old version of MadVR since all versions after v.113 are blocking the use of Capture Cards. (Concerns with cannibalizing Envy sales...).

All I need is an option that can I use to force HDR/PQ/BT.2020 or SDR/BT.709 as an input into JRVR. (output of the Decklink capture card).

me too.  Used to run CoreElec before moving to a Zidoo, and will order an Ugoos and moving back to CoreElec.  Full FEL support is huge.

I saw in the recent logs for V33 some items related to video capturing such as this in 33.0.40:

Changed: For video capturing (on Windows, using DirectShow), if the device does not offer "Video Capture Pin" property page, MC will save video output format data upon user exiting from "Video Capture Filter" property page. This solves the issue of MC never saving the output format that the user set on the property page.
2. Fixed: DirectShow device "DeckLink Video Capture" from Blackmagic Design did not work.

I was wondering if the above is related to the topic discussed in this thread, and if yes, has any progress been made, if not why has any progress not been made? :)

See https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,139807.msg971864.html for some progress

Fwiw I have written a capture filter for the magewell 4k pro cards which does this (switching to HDR and back automatically) and multichannel pcm , can't say it's 100% reliable yet but nearly there I think

That's great news! However, until there is a solution with audio passthrough, it's a bit of a no-no, as it means no Atmos or DTS:X.
Does the Magewell do full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, or is it 18Gb/s?

There is a variant with a LT port https://www.magewell.com/products/pro-capture-hdmi-4k-plus-lt

No idea if MC television would support bitstream via this method

Specs are https://www.magewell.com/tech-specs/pro-capture-hdmi-4k-plus-lt

It's a 2.0 input, are there any that do 2.1?

There was no HDMI 2.1 capture card last time I looked, no. I have less need for this now that I have a 1,000nits TV as static tonemapping is fine for my non-HTPC source (with DV / HDR10+ when available), but in case I ever go back to projectors that would be an interesting project.

I don't really mind the HDMI 2.0 bandwidth as all my non-HTPC sources have the same limitation, but if you can't passthrough immersive audio that's a dealbreaker for me.

Thanks for the update, please let us know if you make any further progress!
