MC28 Problem: "OpenGL ES extensions missing"
« on: January 28, 2022, 09:33:24 am »

Hello, ... I am having this problem on my 32bit Windows 10 laptop I'am using as main audio station.
The problem is not present on my 64bit Windows on which I recently installed MC28 to crosscheck the issue.

Both laptop (except for the 32 and 64 bit edition) are running Windows 10 with all the latest patches available.

Just to be aware that on the 64bit laptop I had installed before MC23 32bit (original license), then upgraded to MC28 32bit (upgrade license). Then I removed the MC28 32bit and installed the 64bit.
Instead on the 32bit laptop I installed straight the MC28 32bit edition (no upgrade from MC23).

May it be the case to reinstall MC28 on the 32bit laptop? Or to install first MC23 and then upgrade to MC28?

Regards, Andrea

What kind of GPU(s) do your computer(s) have? Because it sounds like your GPU (either integrated graphics or dedicated GPU) doesn't support the OpenGL ES extensions needed for MC28 to work correctly, for video at least. Media Center's requirements for video changed a couple major versions back transitioning to ANGLE (OpenGL ES) since MC23 and not all GPUs, especially older Intel CPUs with Intel integrated graphics, is compatible.

Hello Awesome Donkey,

my 32bit laptop has an Intel 965 mobile express chip-set (so it is reported by the sys info).

Is it the problem?

Intel 965 sounds really old. But you could post a log for us to make sure.

Intel 965 came out in 2008, so that's very likely why.

As suspected, its not supporting one of the features we require. Looks like its just too old. You could try updating the graphics drivers, but i'm not sure if thats going to solve that.
According to my documentation, a GPU from 2008 should have these features, but if the system doesn't say it does, not sure what to do about that.

These old Intel graphics chips are also not supported by Windows 10 fully. So I'm not sure if that may be part of it, as the driver might not be fully there.

Hello Hendrik, thanks so much for your support.
That's not a big problem, I will not use the Theater View with MC28.
