Greetings,

I was wondering if JRiver is able to do this but based on the title may require more explanation.  I'm wanting to have a library of two collections which may contain duplicates but only display the one of higher quality if available.  Effectively I have a music collection which has FLAC (incomplete) and MP3 (complete).  My goal is that when a FLAC version of the same file is available with the same key attributes (artist/album/title) it is displayed rather than the MP3 so no duplicates are visible.  I need to retain the MP3 versions because they are used for my mobile device and are synced using Resilio (Android has made maintaining sync hard otherwise IME, transcoding on sync is a PITA).  I also need the library to still be able to display MP3 files when no corresponding FLAC is found for digital releases that never had one or ones I've not yet ripped to FLAC due to time constraints.

Are there any possible expressions/etc to help configure display this way?

I think you want to use Stacks - https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Stacks

That definitely seems to fit the bill.  Do you know if there's a way for this to be automated on import or does it have to be manually started every time I want them to stack?
