VPN and DLNA Renderer
« on: February 07, 2022, 03:25:19 pm »

Good evening,

My music files are on a NAS at my parent's house.
There is also a Raspberry Pi with MC 28 as a server.
The network of my parent's house is connected to the network of my flat (in another town) via VPN.
In the flat I use another MC installation as a client.
So far so good.
I have a Yamaha NP-S303 (Network Player) in my flat which i see in MC Client as a Zone (DLNA Renderer).
But the Network-Player (as a zone in MC Client) doesn't play the files from the loaded library of my MC Server.
Why is this?
Because the MC Server doesn't show the Yamaha Network-Player as a zone as well (DLNA doesn't work over VPN)?
Or is the whole setup wrong?    ;D

If i use MC in my flat as a Server then it works like a charm.

Thanks a lot for your help!!
Oli

Is your NAS connected to the MC server as a DLNA server?
If so, does your MC client have access to that NAS IP address through the VPN?
Does your rendering device have access to the NAS DLNA server IP address too?
The MC library server will provide the URL to the MC client, looking at the URL in playing now on the client should give you a clue as to what's going on.

DLNA discovery won't work over the VPN but I don't think that's the issue here.
Does the same track play on the client?
