We need setting up JRemote to control JRiver without an internet connection. We did this successfully in the past, but are having trouble now after upgrading.
Running JRiver Media Center 27 on a laptop running Win10 Pro Education 20H2. JRemote 3.36 is on a recent 5th Gen iPad mini running iOS 15.0.1.
We are using this setup as the music server for the upcoming Axpona audio show. The internet connection at shows tends to be flaky, so we never count on it. We have local music files on the laptop that we play thru JRiver using the iPad with JRemote to give wireless control.
We have a WiFi router setup with only the iPad and laptop on the network with no internet connection. When you start JRemote if goes directly to a screen that says "Not Connected" on top. Clicking the gear on the upper left gives 2 choices for Add a New Server: 1) Connect with Access Key 2) Connect with IP Address. The second choice supposedly does not require an internet connection. We choose the second choice and enter the IP address of the laptop and the port number and hit "Add and Connect" the next screen goes to "Connection Summary". There are 2 entries, the first says its connecting to the IP address and the port, the second is a warning sign and says "Could not connect (The internet connection appears to be offline)". The whole point of following the second path is to set it up offline! Nothing more happens after this...
I assume that we're doing something wrong? Advice would be greatly appreciated. We enjoy showing off JRiver during demos and it gets nearly as much exposure as our speakers! Would really like to get this working properly!
