Managing multi-disc music collections
« on: March 20, 2003, 01:11:25 pm »

I'd like to know how you guys manage this...

I have two 120 GB hard drives for music.  The first drive contains the "My Documents" folder as well as the "My Music" folder.  This drive is now full.

What's the best way to split my collection?  At this point I've done it alphabetically (A through O on one drive and P through Z on the other).

Is there any way to tell windows the "My Music" folder is continued elsewhere?  That would be very nice.

On the Media Center front, it's now showing duplicate files.  Every file I moved to the new drive (files starting with P through Z) are now shown as duplicates existing on both drives (even though they only exist on the new drive).  I'm clearing my database now and will re-import the files from the two locations.

Will MC have problems with this 2-disc set up?

The only thing that you have to watch out is when ripping new cd's. Then you have to set the right path in the output base location under Options!
