Purchased wrong license
« on: February 19, 2022, 03:00:35 pm »

Hi
I've just bought an upgrade Master license thinking I could use this to upgrade my v24 Windows license and experiment with using MC in a Linux environment.  The installer, however, gives a pop up saying I have the wrong version installed.  Reading through some of the support pages, I can see that the licensing doesn't work the way I thought and the upgrades are strictly linked to the initial license purchase (Master license to Master upgrade, Windows license to Windows upgrade etc).

I don't want to pay the extra required to upgrade my Windows license to a Master license, as at the moment I'm only testing how I may use Linux. Could you send me, therefore, a Windows upgrade and refund to me the $8.00 ($27.98 - $19.98) difference?

I apologise for my confusion. Let me know what additional info you need.

Kelvin

You may need to use a newer version.

Any license can be upgraded to any license.

Hi
I'm sorry, I don't understand.

Any license can be upgraded to any license.
So my original assumption was correct and I can use the Master upgrade I've purchased to upgrade my Windows license and install MC onto Linux?

You may need to use a newer version.
Do you mean an updated version of the v29 installer?  Or that I need to update my current MC to a more recent version.  If so, how do I do this?

Cheers
Kelvin

Could you perhaps have upgraded to a Master licence for MC 24?
It sounds like you may have done that.

MC29 isn't out yet - but the licence should work with mc28.0.106

Hi
Just to close this off.  I downloaded and installed MC v28 which picked the master licence that I'd purchased with no problem.
Thanks for your help.

Cheers
