3D for tvs, and for non 3D capable ?
Hendrik:
The chances that it'll ever be on Linux or Mac is even smaller, as the 3D decoder we use is a windows binary and integrated into LAV Video - also windows only.

I am no longer on the windows platform.
I left Windows for linux 6 or 7 years ago
Thanks.
George.

Hello:
Thanks a lot for your timely response.
I know you are very busy, and I do not want to be labor this
When you are less busy, please take a look at the Nvidia X11 conf file for all linux disris, abd even for Mac.
The X 11 conf has a lot if options that will benefit those of us with Nvidia gpus.
lots of options to enable ir disable stuffs.
My coding days are long gone.
How about the ability to send RAW data to the renderer ?
How about converting the Windows code for use with Linux and Mac?
If JRiver can convert the entire source code from Windows to Mac and various linux distros, it will be nice for JR management to help get the 3D windows code to linux
Please think about members that have large collections of 3Ds.
How about finding a linux code - public to use.
I do not use Windows MC, any longer, my daily staple is linux
3D is not dead!!.
Dune 2021 has 3D versions
Wait until Avatar 2 and others show up on 3D.
Just as you have Dolby vision playable on a non dolby vision tvs, same could be true for non 3D capable tvs playing 3D (checkerboard).
When forum on non forum members find out about this new option ,there is going to be a new request for MC to accommodate this, and it may lead to SALES.
Going back, at one point, MC code was only for Windows
Now ,same code ported to other platforms
Please take a look at your spare time. It may be worth it.
Thanks.
George.

Looks like, at least for the time being, it's Windows-only and only with madVR. To be honest, I'd be surprised if that ever changed since 3D is more-or-less dead now - I haven't seen a single brand-new TV released with 3D support in years and Nvidia has dropped support for 3D from their drivers (not sure if AMD still supports it, but I'd assume they'll drop it too if they haven't already).

Hello:
3D is not dead.
Nvidia in its latest gou drivers, made provision for 3D to be enabled or disabled.
The Vilkan api ,cross platform does have 3D in it.
how about linux Mesa 3D that can be used with opengl.
MC has opengl, and vulkan built in within yhe JRVR video engine.
The besuty of the X11.conf is,the 3D with checkerboard does not need to have a 3D capability.
The entire MC code was Windows os binary, several years, now we have the varios linux distros,, even the source code ported to Mac..
3D capability is tied to Madvr.
Vulkan Api, Opengl,Mesa 3D,all cross platform.
Maybe Mr. H, needs to expose the new JRVR code to see Nvidia X11.conf 0.
Please take the time to download info on Nvidia's sample conf and necessary commands to enable or disable features.
Thanks.
George.
JimH:
I'm sorry, George, but 3D is not something we're likely to do. I never wanted to do it in the first place. I remember it coming and going in the 1950's.
