No Audio after closing JRiver
« on: March 20, 2022, 02:26:52 pm »

I was using JRiver ver25 for several years but not too often and lately upgraded to ver29.
On both versions I have the issue with no audio after closing JRiver.

Basically, after closing JRiver, I cannot play Foobar, Spotify, YouTube or anything else until I reboot PC.
My PC is Win10Pro with all latest updates.
Sometimes, after closing JRiver, i can try to open/close Foobar or Spotify several times and audio may come back, but most of the times reboot fix it.
I have a Benchmark DAC3 HGC connected to PC and using it's driver.

Any advice how to fix it?
Thanks

Google exclusive mode.

Read about it here:  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/WASAPI

Try using the stop button instead of pause.

Thank you Jim,
I do not pause, I am completely closing JRiver and have a trouble top open something else.
I opened Audio device settings per link you provided and it look different and no Exclusive Mode there (different in ver29?).
Can't figure out how to insert image here.

I disabled Exclusive mode in Windows, but still have to restart Spotify to play music or refresh Yu Tube page to play video.
Maybe it is normal?
Thanks

It's not different in MC 29. Exclusive mode is an option if you use Wasapi.  Try direct sound just to test.

Thank you Jim for suggestions.
I use "Benchmark DAC2 ASIO Driver (ASIO)" at Audio Device settings.

If I use "Benchmark DC2 USB Audio 2.0 (WASAPI) i am getting an error when trying to playback-
"Playback could not be started on the output "WASAPI" using format "44.1khz 2ch" ... Please use Output format listed below - Sample rate 192000, Channels 2, Bit per sample:32"

At DSP Studio-Output format, I have option choose "DSD in DoP format (required DSD capable DAC)" and in below table all sample rates are greyed out and I cannot change anything. Tried all other options in drop down Menu, but cannot change anything in Sample rate table and still getting above errors.

I have no errors only with Benchmark DAC2 ASIO Driver (ASIO) and DSD in DoP format (required DSD capable DAC) and playback works fine, but getting these audio issues with other programs when JRiver closed.

Thanks

Sounds like you're using the WDM driver and you have it set as your system default. If so, that's why, Media Center has to be open for sound in other apps to work. Otherwise change the system default from the WDM driver to your DAC.
