I see that JRiver Media Center 29.0.26 for Debian Buster (amd64, i386, arm64 and armhf) is "also in the latest repo" — which is great, since installing via the repo provides automatic updating through the system's package manager.
Will the instructions over in [How-To] Set up JRiver Media Center 28 in Debian/Ubuntu/Linux Mint work, if one just replaces mediacenter28 with mediacenter29 wherever the former appears? Or has anything else changed?

Yes, editing references from 28 to 29 will work. Honestly, I don't think the tutorial is needed anymore (hence why I haven't posted it), just use BryanC's installJRMC script and it does everything for you. It really can't get any easier than that.

Thank you.
I just think having the updates pushed by the OS via the repository is preferable to visiting site to look for latest command to run; getting and updating software via a repo has always been one of my favorite things about Linux (or about App Store installs on macOS, etc). So on that count I am likely to keep using repo as long as available. Though… installed via script, will Linux version notify you when there's an update, in bottom left corner, and provide link to update?

The script on Debian/Ubuntu/Mint should add the repo automatically without having to do anything else. It just simplifies the process, hence why I don't think the tutorial is needed anymore because it does all the work.

Yes, as long as you are not using a very old release.
