MC29 playback issue -- no high res
« on: April 09, 2022, 07:15:57 pm »

Recently upgraded from MC26 to MC29.  All went fine except for some reason MC29 is only playing at 48kHz sample rate regardless of file sample rate.  I have an AudioQuest Dragonfly Cobalt DAC which indicates the sample rate.  I have no problems with playback at correct sample rates in MC26, and playback settings in DSP studio are identical in both versions as far as I can tell.  Help?  Am I missing something?

Re-upping this in case anyone has a suggestion.

Check your settings in DSP Studio > Output Settings.

Post a screen shot of the Audio Path, which is the little gear in the upper right hand corner. It has the details of any conversions.  And a copy of the DSP Output Format screen.

Thanks for the response.  Photos are below.  The issue, I think, is the audio device setting.  If set to Default Device (Direct Sound) I can move between different headphones (incl Bluetooth), stereo, etc. but only at standard res.  My Dragonfly will render in high-res if I select that device, but then MC won't play other devices.  Is there a setting that permits seamless device switching *and* proper sample rate playback?

Direct Sound will resample to a common sample rate, like 48 Khz. If you want other sample rates you need to use either WASAPI or ASIO.

You need specific DSP settings for each device. Then they will apply to them as selected.
