I have MC28 on a Mac and I bought a Mac Mini M1 ... I want to move JRiver to the Mini.  I assume I do the following...   I have a MC 29 license but haven't upgraded yet.

1)  On the old computer (iMac) do a backup of MC 28 with music catalog on external HDD.   

2) Upgrade the old computer to MC 29 and do another backup.

3) Install MC 29 on the new computer (Mini)

4) Move the external HDD from the old to the new computer.

5 Copy the MC 29 backup from old to new computer

6) Restore the MC 29 backup on the new computer.

7) Delete JRiver from old computer.

You seem to have it all correct.  #2 and #7 aren't strictly necessary, but won't hurt.

I've moved and upgraded MC dozens of times.  You shouldn't have any trouble.  But if you do, we are here to help.

Well, it worked.   I got the new computer working without a hitch.   All my troubles were with the old computer - now relegated to functioning as a remote to the new computer.   Since I restored the backup from the old computer, the old version and the new version both had the same network key and I couldn't get the old computer to function as a TRemote.   

Took a very long time for me to figure it out, but eventually I changed the network key on both old and new and all was well.
