Loading views takes forever in v29 for me

I just upgraded to v29 two days ago. Since then it takes a solid (I timed it) three seconds to switch to any view every single time I click on a new one.

I hop around views very frequently while tagging and organizing. This hasn't been a problem in the past. But now simply moving from "Albums" to "Artists" (for example) hangs JRiver (spinning blue wheel next to curser) for a solid 3 seconds every time.

I have an insanely fast computer (12700K with 64GB of 3200MHz RAM). And an insanely fast drive (JRiver is installed on the C drive, with my library file on the C drive - the C drive is a Samsung 980 Pro nvme m.2 drive).

I only have ~20,000 songs in this library.

I don't use antivirus outside of Windows Defender, so it's not an antivirus problem.

I have Windows in "High performance" power mode.

All of my audio files are on two internal SATA SSD drives, so it's not a network issue.

I have the latest update installed. I've restarted numerous times. I'm ready to pull my hair out.

Any ideas what may be causing this hang?

When I first upgraded to MC 29 from MC 28, I had a similar issue. It didn't hang between every view, but it certainly would take between three and six seconds on some view operations it did virtually instantaneously before. I kept updating to the latest MC 29 version in the hopes that it would eventually be remedied, but it never happened.

I uninstalled and reinstalled MC 29 several times, but that did not fix it either. I then decided to uninstall both MC 29, and my previous installation of MC 28 too. I usually run the latest MC release along with the previous one until I am completely confident I'm ready to dump the older version.  Since I was having issues with MC 29, I was reluctant to uninstall MC 28 but decided to give it a go.

And what you know, that solved the problem, at least on my machine. If you are in a similar situation, perhaps give that a shot

I uninstalled v28 before installing v29 (which is just usually how I do it).

But I did just re-download and re-install v28 now, and v28 has zero hang issues. Jumping between views and in and out of artists is immediate.

I guess I'll uninstall v29 for now and try it again after a few more updates.

FYI, JRiver team, your links to download v28 are broken here: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Old_Versions You have an extra "https//" in the link so it returns a "This site cannot be reached" error. Removing the extra "https//" fixes it and then v28 can be downlaoded.

You still must configure it.  There's a thread here.

Just to add a few more data points...

When I had both MC 28 and MC 29 installed, and MC 29 was having the lag issues, I could open up MC 28 (either by itself or at the same time with MC 29), and and MC 28 would function speedily… just like all 15 MC editions I have had prior to this.

As I noted in a previous post, after uninstalling both MC 28 and MC 29 (using Revo un-installer to completely clear the registry of any MC orphans) and then reinstalling only MC 29, my MC 29 lag issues were resolved. I did not configure Windows defender per the recommendations here on the forum. I never configure Windows defender for MC, and have never had an issue with it by not doing so. I have a boat load of software installed, some of dubious origins, yet still no issues.

I never configure Windows defender for MC, and have never had an issue with it by not doing so.
You did report a problem with MC29 speed above.

Yes I did. And I reiterated that in the post you just quoted. My point was, that the fix had nothing to do with configuring Windows defender.
