NordVPN causing audio drop outs and pops
« on: May 05, 2022, 06:34:29 pm »

As soon as I installed NordVPN I noticed the audio problems with MC29 and my Win11 computer. Disconnecting the vpn helps marginally but the random noises are there whenever I launch or use my browser or when my email client (Outlook) checks for messages. Using PS Audio Wasapi and it has never caused any issues. Just the NordVPN...

Did you try uninstalling it?

Not yet. Still trying to find a setting that doesn't screw up my music, and hooping i didn't just blow money on a useless 2-year subscription to Nord. But if there's no fix, Nord goes away. I have told it not to launch on Windows start-up but the drop outs and stuttering is still there.

Maybe do a Google search for what you need to do with Windows Defender.

Googling didn't bring up anything relevant, though the Nord FAQ does mention the Nord Kill Switch (adding an app to the Kill Switch list so that VPN is disabled) but that didn't work adding MC29, and if i were to add my browser, well, then, I would be defeating the vpn I paid for.
I remember taming Windows Defender in Win10, and this issue may have something to do with Defender or Malwarebytes, but I just said to heck with it and uninstalled NordVPN. All is back to the way it was before; no pops, no stutters, just music.
