Hello

My audio files are stored on an Intel  NUC running MC28 headless on Windows
My video files are stored on a NAS

I am using a raspberry based device running moode as DLNA renderer for music only in my kitchen
I am also using a RPI4 running JRiver (MC28 or MC 29) for playing audio and video as well in my living room.

how should I configure the library on the RPI4 in order to access both music and video?

I'd recommend looking into the <Rename, Move & Copy Files> (F6) command. The very first option is to point to a path where files are physically located. All you do is select the relevant files press F6 and the set the path to the files. Try with a few few first to check that everything works and then do all the ones you need to do. I also recommend to make sure you understand everything the command can do first (e.g. play around with a test library) before you start in earnest.

I want to keep the audio files on the nuc and the video files on the Nas.

As an aside, why not put the audio files on the NAS as well?

Anyway, this is one possible setup, using your NUC as the MC Server:
- Import your Video files into the NUC library, so it will hold all your media in one library. You can setup auto-import for the NAS folders as well as the local Audio folders
- Add your Kitchen Pie as a DLNA target to your server. You might want to setup different Zones with different output devices so that you can operate them separately and/or simultaneously. Make sure you can play something to it.
- Enable Media Network in MC settings; make sure to set an Username and Password for non-guest access
- The NUC is now your server; it should be on 24/7. Other MC's can now be connected to it and play music/video from it, or tell it to play to the kitchen or other DLNA/speaker zones.
- On the living room MC, just go to File->Library->Connect to Remote Library, and enter either the Hostname, IP address or Access Key of the server. It will ask you for username and password on connection.
- You should then see all your files on that MC as well, as well as the output Zones defined in the Server. You should be able to play to your local TV/speakers, as well as to the kitchen or other Server-defined zones from the Living Room PI.

If you prefer to have the living room PI as the Server, just switch the roles around.
Also, make sure you have the Server library backups enabled - best is to have it backup to your NAS, so that if the local C: drive dies you have a backup on the NAS.

What I suggested is exactly that. All the files stay where they are. You only point parts of library to the existing locations (= path where they are located).

I simply have added the path to the NAS for the video file and it seems to be OK.

Just a note: when we say "library" we are referring to the database where MC saves all the information about your files, such as all their tag values and actual location, and not the audio/video files themselves. The library/database usually resides in your C: drive and is relatively small. You can import files from any number of different locations into the library.

Yeah, it's pretty powerful. The media files can be located anywhere, as long as you tell the library (with F6) where they are. And as Zybex says, the library is what I would call the "meta-data database" that contains all the tags and location information for the media files. You can also tell MC to store at least some of the tags within the media files.
