SiliconDust EPG data not downloading
« on: May 09, 2022, 10:22:48 pm »

I just bought MC29 to try out, but cant get the SiliconDust EPG guide to download. I Have done all the required steps to set it up. I have a Subscription to SiliconDust and have no proglem using the HDhomerun software or Emby to download the EPG.
This is the error I am receiving: "Failed to download EPG data from SiliconDust, Error: unknown"
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

What HDHomeRun device do you have?  One device or more than one?

If you have more than one device, did you register with Silicondust all of your devices (give them all device IDs when you subscribe to EPG)?

I have two HDHomerun Primes.

"did you register with Silicondust all of your devices " I'm not sure what you mean.

When I run hdhomerun software I get the EPG no Problem
When I run Emby Tv software I get the EPG no Problem
When I run Plex tv software I get the EPG no Problem
Wehn I run Channels DVR I get EPG no Problem
The only software I have a issue with is JRiver Media Software.

When I try to setup the television, I find the primes no problem, it then finds all the channels, It just will not download the epg data.

"did you register with Silicondust all of your devices " I'm not sure what you mean.

When you subscribe to EPG from Silicondust, they tie your subscription to your device IDs.  I was just wondering, in an unlikely event, whether they only tie your subscription to one of your devices, and at the time you tried, only one device was available, and that one happened to be not tied to your subscription.  Obviously if at the time you tried getting EPG both devices were seen by MC, then the issue is somewhere else.

The error message "Failed to download EPG data from SiliconDust, Error: unknown" just means exactly what it says, MC failed to download data.  MC submitted your Device IDs to Silicondust, but could not get EPG data.

Turn on logging and email me a log of this failure.
